Candace Donovan, OT/L, CLT-ALM has been an Occupational Therapist working in Aroostook County, ME since 1982. Areas of experience have been acute care (hospitals), skilled nursing facilities, education system (with children), outpatient hand therapy, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services, and most recently in an outpatient setting as a certified Lymphedema Therapist (lymphedema therapy including wound care, if needed).

She has discovered her passion for assisting people through recovery from the devastating effects of lymphedema. The frustrations can be obtaining appropriate compression garments and lack of services in Northern Maine, to include post breast cancer care. Therapy Shoppe is born from the desire to have a “one stop shop” to meet the needs of this population.

As we move forward, Therapy Shoppe will provide excellence in care for lymphedema patients, to include complete decongestive therapy, exercise and home programs, wound care when needed, and general rehabilitation for strength, range of motion, and mobility deficits. We will have available quality/quantity compression garments and prosthetic bras for purchase (online and/or in person). As we move forward these garments/services will be billed to insurance, if applicable. Please note, we will be the only certified fitters for mastectomy bras and prosthetics in Northern Maine. Other products available for purchase will be wound care supplies, skin care products, general therapy supplies, adaptive equipment, and products to assist women recovering from breast cancer and post treatment effects.

Education and support will be a primary focus. We will have online educational videos available on our website for both patients as well as medical professionals. Moving forward we will arrange periodic “in person” support groups.

Initially, the DME store will be operational and available. Once insurance credentialling and accreditation processes are completed, all above-mentioned services/products will be in full swing.
